2016 Canadian Nationals - Friday 8/19

The snappy and animated motion in the Half-Arabian English Pleasure JTR 18 & Under was presented expertly by youth exhibitors in the Friday morning session. DC One Man Show and Madison Rose rode to the top ten honors, with hocks providing strong impulsion from the hind end, this young pairing demonstrated a clean performance for their respected finish. Mia Tayler and FP Black Betty trot up to the winner’s circle as they garner their Reserve National Championship title. The infectious smile among Mia Tayler’s face complimented her as the most enthusiastic rider of the show. Bringing the National Champion honor back to Arizona, Kaitlyn Ruonavaara and her pinto gelding, Cajun Princeof Monico exit the arena with the National Champion rose garland.

The afternoon session started in the Westman Place arena with the Half-Arabian Pleasure Driving Championship. The bold moving, dark bay mare, Soul Sister CH and Todd Hickerson exemplified an exquisite presentation in this driving class. Todd’s ability to skillfully maneuver this mare whose fluid motion is supported by the crowd completes the class garnering the Reserve National Champion title. Larry Hoffman of Hesten Park continues to have a successful show. Tactfully presenting Mackinley Wilson’s sporty English show horse, Toi Showgirl, Larry drives to the National Champion honors.

Continuing to grow in class size, the Select rider division has been a great benefit to the industry. The Half-Arabian Western Pleasure Select AATR Championship jogged into the arena with two particular stand-outs. Not only do the top two finishers in this class portray the same style, respectively One Knight Stand and Jessee James are top western horses that match in physical attributes. Following their performance, One Knight Stand and Sheila Curley left the arena with the Reserve National Champion honors. Susan Arnot and the black gelding, Jesse James, portrayed a comfortable, light, and a perfect demonstration of a partnership between the two earning them the National Champion title.

At 7 o’clock sharp, the evening session session brought the spectators up to the ring and kept them captivated throughout each class. The Arabian Hunter Pleasure AATR 19-39 continues to be competitive as ever. Recently purchasing her mount at Scottsdale of this year, Lela Reynolds and PA Vaquero Kid garner the National Championship title in this class –also competing earlier in the show in the select rider division.
