The AVS Eurozone Cup is a new ECAHO European show, only open to European horses. In a luxurious setting of HC Exloo, Netherlands, the Dutch Arabian Studbook made an ultimate attempt to promote and stimulate the European breeders and owners to show their horses under the exclusive European rules of the show. The AVS Eurozone Cup not only hosts a National C show in Exloo but also a European C Show.
Forelock’s Arabians celebrated a double success in the Foal Championship, winning not only Silver with Forelock’s Valeta Dominica (Dominic M x Valeta F) but also Bronze with the winner of the Colt Foal Class, Forelock’s Ssensation. Sired by RFI Farid, the grey colt is out of NA Gracy Junah, a WH Justice daughter which represents Egyptian lines on the maternal side of her pedigree. The MM Sergio daughter also accomplished Silver Champion Junior Filly alongside Peter Wilms. Flaxman’s Pandora’s dam is QR Sarah, by Enzo and out of QR Alexandra.
Jayden’s Yuliah already enjoyed a quite good 2018 show season making her breeders Janine Visser and Raymond Pietersen proud, when the filly was named Arabian Futurity Europe Top 5 and winning Holland’s Best at the Tulip Cup. Now a lovely yearling, the bay just like her sire RFI Farid and her dam Forelock’s Yuliette, by Psytadel, Jayden’s Yuliah returned to the show ring alongside Tom Oben. The filly was 2nd in her age class and garnered Bronze Champion Junior Filly at the European C Show.
Gold Champion Senior Mare Firediva was bred by Pawel Redestowiczand and is now proudly owned by Flaman Arabians. His sire Fayad Al Fayyad represents the sire line of WH Justice to Padron while Moncino DD’s dam Lady Cassandra DD is by Psytadel, adding more of Padron’s influence, and out of Monogrammed Lady (by Monogramm), tracing back to Polish bred Gradacja.
Proud breeder and owner Koen Carrein happily received the trophy for Gold Champion Senior Stallion KC Marengo at the European C Show, well handled by Frederik van Sas. The WH Justice son is out of 2016 Belgian Nationals Gold Champion Senior Mare Mississippi J, a QR Marc daughter out of Magnificent Lady J (Extreme x Mauhiba).

Last but not least, the Gelding class was an exciting affair. Flaxman Arabians’ MM Esperado (RFI Farid x MM Eluise) and Ero’s Rolexx ended up with the same score – 91,19. In the end, grey MM Esperado took the lead, thanks to higher score in type while Ero’s Rolexx (Excalibur EA x Raville P), bred and owned by the van Duyvenbode family, winner of the gelding class at the National C Show the day before, ended up second with EM Polar (Lumiar Amadeus x Pepreszka), owned by Teresa van Nes, in third place.
A show like this is not possible without several sponsors: The gelding prizemoney was sponsored by Albidayer Stud. The foal futurity was sponsored by the European Breeders Trust and the other classes and championships by Al Saqran Stud. A show also needs a skilled committed organising team. To attract more entrants prize money respectively breedings to first class stallions were given. “In the European show we have a prize scheme for the breedings and the money,” Gideon Reisel from the organising team explains. “It does bring more horses for sure. Also waving the National C show entry fee if National C horses enter also in the EUR show helps!”
But it was not easy at all to collect the breedings, remembers Gideon: “Stallion owners have the feeling that they lose that money, but we feel it is not true. The small breeder would hardly consider these breedings which are quite expensive or not easy to get at all.” In the end, the organisers were successful collecting breedings to interesting stallions: Kanz Al Bidayer, SG Labib, Emperor KA, Ibn Rasheem, Ali Khan, Prometheus, Luigi, R’Adjah de Cartherey, Sundown KA, Shiraz de Lafon, Haash OSB, Marajj, Psytadel, Dominic, and Aja Justified.
Arabian Horse Global Network would like to extend thanks to the Dutch Studbook AVS for the excellent collaboration. Figure out all results and livestream in replay.
