A Well-Balanced Battle
Published on the 2nd of September 2018 by Susanne Bösche
Usually when two fight, one has to lose – otherwise the other cannot win. However, the 2018 Belgian Nationals saw a well-balanced battle between to global players and well-known Belgian breeders, Christine Jamar of Jadem Arabians (ladies first) and Paul Gheysens, owner of Knocke Arabians.
While horses with the suffix "J" – which stands for Jadem Arabians - accomplished titles in the female classes, Knocke horses excelled in the male classes. Altogether, Jadem Arabians took two Gold, a Silver, and two Bronze medals. Knocke horses achieved two Gold and two Silver medals for their proud breeder.
In the Junior Fillies, two Emerald J daughters bred by Jadem Arabians stood out, both have Ekstern on the female side of their pedigree. Gold was given to Furla J out of Fudala J (Ekstern x Faramuszka, by Pamir and back to Finlandia) while Bronze-winning Merida J is out of Magnificent Lady J (Extreme x Mauhiba, by Ekstern). Silver went to Knocke Arabians' QR Marc daughter Safiya KA out of famed FT Shaella, sired by Shael Dream Desert.
In the Junior Colts championship, Knocke Arabians took the lead by winning Gold and Silver with two QR Marc sons. Gold Champion Junior Colt Poseidon KA is inbred to QR Marc, as the World Champion Stallion is also the sire of Poseidon's dam Exposita KA (out of Ekina, by Ekstern and back to Embara). Silver-winning Equiborn KA is out of the Monogramm daughter Espadrilla and therefore a maternal grandson of famous Emanacja. QR Marc can also be found in the pedigree of the Bronze winner, Madagaskar J, bred and owned by Jadem Arabians. The bay colt is by Excalibur EA (WH Justice – Padron Psyche sire line) and out of Mississippi J, by QR Marc and out of Magnificent Lady J; making Madagaskar J a relative to Bronze Champion Junior Filly Merida J.
Jadem Arabians celebrated a one-two victory in the Senior Mares championship with Marrakech J and Emmonida. With the lovely grey Marrakech J, Emerald J again proved to be a wonderful sire for Jadem Arabians. Marrakech's dam is JA Ultima, by Besson Carol. The 2004 born Emmonida, by Gazal Al Shaqab, is out of the 2011 Polish National Senior Champion Mare Emmona, one of the famed Monogramm daughters from Michalow. The Polish state stud farm Michalow not only bred Emmonida, now owned by Jadem Arabians but also Bronze-winning Dorsenia (out of Dombra, by Eldon), proudly owned by Flaxman Arabians. In Dorsenias' pedigree, we can also find Monogramm, this time through her sire Kabsztad (Poganin x Kwestura, by Monogramm).
Flaxman Arabians tasted two more precious medals when their stallions Jeryan Aljassimya (WH Justice out of Psierra, by Padrons Psyche) and Etoryk (Om El Shamaan x Etnologia, by Gazal Al Shaqab) took Silver and Bronze Champion Senior Stallion. While Jeryan Aljassimya, the name already says it, was bred by Al Jassimya Farm, Qatar, Etoryk was bred by Janow Podlaski, Poland. The Gold Champion was another fine son by QR Marc, Profender KA, who is out of a fantastic dam line. His dam is Palanga, by Ekstern out of Panika. Palanga herself was 2003 European Champion Filly and twice Polish National Reserve Champion, now she did her duties in the breeding barn producing champion winning get.
Congratulations to all the competitors. Arabian Horse Global Network would like to extend thanks to the Belgian Studbook BAPS for the excellent collaboration.
