Dealing With The Adversities

Since the fall of communism in 1989, the Golden City of Prague has developed into one of Europe's popular tourist destinations. In the same time, the interest in Arabian horses grew significantly. The Prague Intercup became a recommended show within the European show circuit. From 2017, the show was moved outdoors and placed in the historic centre of the city of Prague. However, this year the organizing team had to deal with the adversities of a heavy storm, as the weather Gods did not always had good intentions.

The Saturday’s rainstorm in the middle of the show was quite strong and a considerable amount of damage was caused to the showground as well as to the equipment. This is the moment, when a strong team is worth a great deal – and the Prague Intercup team succeed with such determination and amazing grace by making sure that the show can continue on Sunday. Actually no damage was visible at the championships. In the end, the panel of experienced judges – Mrs. Hyde. Mrs. Tengstedt, Mrs. Eberhardt, and Mr. McCrea – made all the decisions and the rosettes were given to the champions, the international ones and the European Cup ones.

The Highest Score of the Show (92,67) was given to ten years old Ereira (Piruet x Elgina), bred by Michalow Stud and proudly owned by Halsdon Arabians, UK. This year, Ereira returned to the show ring and caught the attention of the judges. She not only was awarded as the High Scorer of the Show but also became Best Mare, Best Mover, and Unanimous European Cup Gold Champion Senior Mare.

The other unanimous decision was made in the International Senior Mares championship. Bred in Italy, Bassandra Settimonciello (what a name!) is proudly owned by Ajman Stud, UAE.
